Spectacular mega cruise ships call Port Everglades home

These luxury cruise ships are 5 times larger than the Titanic. The two largest mega-class passenger cruise ships ever built by gross tonnage and passenger capacity are Royal Caribbean International’s Allure of the Seas and Oasis of the Seas. The Oasis is five times the size of the Titanic and longer than any American aircraft and the most expensive commercial vessel ever built.

Both Oasis of the Seas and best crew manning agency in bangladesh Allure of the Seas were ordered in February 2006 and built by STX Europe shipyard in Turku, Finland. Despite the fact that both vessels were designed with identical superstructures, Allure actually measured just 2 inches longer than Oasis, which the shipbuilder said was likely due to the temper of the steel.

The Oasis was completed on October 28, 2009 and two days later departed Finland bound for the United States. After a 14-day transatlantic crossing, Oasis finally arrived on November 13, 2009 at Port Everglades, the home port of both The Oasis and Allure of the Seas. Oasis of the Seas weighs 225,282 gross tons and can accommodate 6,300 passengers and 2,384 crew members. The price of this magnificent vessel was a staggering $1.47 billion.

Port Everglades began planning for the massive ship’s arrival in 2007, and by February 2009, construction of Cruise Ship Terminal 18 was well underway. The original terminal was expanded more than three times to become a 240,000 square foot or 5.5 acre terminal. to accommodate the vast size of the Oasis.
